On this day, we remember the Hindu saint, Tulsidas – author of the beloved Hanuman Chalisa – lovingly chanted throughout all of India by both children and sadhus alike.
Tulsidas also authored the Ramcharitmanas, a re-telling of the Ramayan in the Awadhi language. This brought Ramayan to the masses as Ramayan was originally written in Sanskrit, a language not understood by the common man. With the advent of Tulsidas’ Ramcharitmanas – every man could study & sing Lord Ram’s story.
Happy Tulsidas Jayanti.
