“The deceased has been identified as Papori Deka, a resident of Dolongghat in Morigaon district. She had travelled to Kedarnath along with a group of friends. According to family members, Papori fell seriously ill while trekking towards the shrine and collapsed near the route. She reportedly died on May 4, just around 500 metres away from the temple”

🔷 BENGAL TEMPLE BAN ‘Hindus only’ banner appears at Bengal temple
The banner was put at the Kankalitala temple in Bolpur by youths claiming affiliation with “Sanatan Paksha”. While the priest claimed he does not endorse the banner – he also didn’t remove it, which speaks volumes.
For Bengal, temple banning, especially at a Shakti Peeth is UNUSUAL.
A Shakti Peeth is a spot where the Goddess Sati’s body fell to Earth. Temples were built in those spots. Shakti Peethas, like many pilgrimage sites dedicated to the Goddess – are known for their openness. Historically, these sites often attract a wide range of visitors, regardless of religious background, especially in India, where many sacred places have a cultural and spiritual appeal beyond strict sectarian boundaries. There are non Indian foreigners that are Shaktas. Shaktaism has never banned people from temples. Bengal has always been a state where inclusivity is practiced at temples – especially at Kali & Durga celebrations.
