There are temples where liquor is offered to deities. Example Bhairava temples. Shaktaism is worship of the Mother Goddess as either Durga or Kali. Shaktas do animal sacrifice and drink liquor. Shaktas are prominent in Bengal. In Shakta tantra, liquor is an item used in religious practice. The five makaras. This is a clear case of Vaishnava laws (vegetarian, no liquor) being imposed on a Shakta land – Bengal (meat & wine).
