Vaikasi Visakam: The Divine Birth of Lord Murugan, God of War and Wisdom
On this sacred day of Vaikasi Visakam, we bow to Lord Murugan — also known as Kartikeya, Skanda, Subrahmanya — the divine warrior and God of Wisdom.
Born from the blazing light of Lord Shiva’s third eye, Murugan took form to defeat the demon Surapadman, who brought terror to the three worlds. With his radiant Vel (divine spear) and his majestic peacock mount, Murugan is the embodiment of spiritual courage and inner clarity.
Though he is the son of Shiva and brother of Ganesha, Murugan’s energy is unique — fierce, youthful, and deeply transformative.
Worshipped predominantly in South India, his presence is especially revered at the sacred Arupadai Veedu — the six holy abodes of Murugan:
- Tirupparamkunram
- Tiruchendur
- Palani
- Swamimalai
- Thiruthani
- Pazhamudircholai
On this Vaikasi Visakam, may Lord Murugan destroy our inner demons, grant us strength to face life’s battles, and guide us with his light toward higher truth.
Om Sharavana Bhavaya Namaha 🙏
