Sonam Raghuvanshi Promised Sex After Kamakhya Visit – Now Accused of Honeymoon Murder Plot
By Hindu Herald Staff
A chilling murder case that has stunned the nation is now entwined with one of Hinduism’s most sacred sites.
Sonam Raghuvanshi, a newlywed bride, has been arrested for allegedly orchestrating the murder of her husband,
Raja Raghuvanshi, shortly after the couple visited the Kamakhya Temple in Assam—a revered Shakti Peeth known for its association with tantra and divine feminine energy.
“Only After Kamakhya” – A Chilling Promise
Police say Sonam told her husband that they would consummate the marriage only after making an offering at the Kamakhya Devi Temple. The couple, who married in May 2025 in what is believed to have been an arranged union, set off on their honeymoon to India’s northeast shortly after the wedding.
But not long after their temple visit, Raja vanished—and was later found dead. Investigators allege the bride was already in a relationship with another man and had been pressured into marrying Raja by her family. The trip to Kamakhya, they say, was a calculated step in a deadly conspiracy.

Kamakhya Temple: Between Devotion and Darkness
At the heart of this tragedy lies Kamakhya Temple, one of Hinduism’s most powerful Shakti Peethas. Perched atop Nilachal Hill in Guwahati, it marks the holy spot where the yoni of Goddess Sati fell. Known for its connections to fertility, menstruation, and tantric rituals, Kamakhya draws thousands of pilgrims—especially during the annual Ambubachi Mela.
Now, the temple finds itself caught in the narrative of a gruesome murder, allegedly used to mask betrayal and premeditated violence.
Sacred Vows, Twisted Intentions
The Raghuvanshi family believed their son’s marriage was sanctified by tradition and spiritual blessings. But police claim Sonam used the temple pilgrimage as a façade—delaying intimacy until after the visit, all while plotting her husband’s death.
As the investigation continues, the case raises painful questions about free will, arranged marriage, and the abuse of sacred tradition to justify a crime.
